Sunday October 10, 2010 Men's Kaiwi channel crossing. 41 miles from Molokai to Oahu. We are again sending 2 crews this year including many novice paddlers who started paddling this year-a great accomplishment. This year the race will be hotly contested with various all star crews from Hawaii, and Australia hoping to stop Tahitian dominance, which will be tough to do.

The recap from the paddlers was that the conditions in the channel were challenging but that everyone did well. We are proud of all our paddlers for their accomplishment, especially the 11 first timers (including 7 novice paddlers) in our 2 crews who got to experience the channel in all its glory. Also in our crew was RJ a paddler from Makapo who is visually impaired, but who inspired everyone with his paddling and his attitude.
Shell Va'a of Tahiti put on a dominant performance in smoking the whole field with a 5th consecutive victory. Crews from Tahiti swept the top 4, and 6 of the top 10. There were some sobering news of injuries during the race including an almost fatal injury to Luke Evslin of Kamanu Composites- luckily he is recuperating well, and our thoughts are with him on his road to recovery.
