The 2009 Kahanamoku Klassic, sponsored by Baja Cantina Restaurant, Baja Fresh, and Organic Panificio Restaurant was a fantastic race! We had a great turnout, and the conditions were perfect. Thanks to SCORA officials for making the course take advantage of the waves. The conditions led to some excitement in the novice race as new steerspeople tried to negotiate the bumpy conditions, and some were introduced to the refreshing coolness of sprintime Pacific waters.
One of the crews came all the way from Tahiti (we are now officially an international race), and they had a great time during, after, and after after. Thank you Motu Uta Wa'a for making the trip.
Thanks to all the paddlers who came and participated in our race, and to all our club members who helped out to make it a great race. Congratulations to all the wiinners, and to all participants- but of course to all of our crews. As our late co-founder Sandy Kahanamoku would lead us in our cheer... "WHO'SSSSSSSSS DA BADDEST"- MARINA!
